HELENA WEAVER, PhD - Technical Consultant

Prof. Hagelin Weaver earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. She has developed heterogeneous catalysts for a number of different reactions, including steam reforming of methanol, oxidative coupling of aromatics as well as methane, and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.

BHASWATI CHOUDHURY, PhD - Scientific Advisor

With peer-reviewed publications in journals like Nature Scientific Reports and J Phys D, Dr. Choudhury is leading biotechnology related research and development at SurfPlasma. Her doctoral thesis was targeted microbial disinfection of air, water and porous surfaces using compact dielectric barrier discharge technology.

KARL R ZAWOY - Business Development Manager

Mr. Zawoy, a Registered Technology Transfer Professional, has over 30 years of manufacturing and product development experience working for Fortune 100 companies and early stage startups. He directed and launched products for medical device companies including CD Medical, Johnson & Johnson and Novoste. He is an inventor on 13 patents.

SUBRATA ROY, PhD - Founder & President

Recognized as an international leader in plasma research, Dr. Roy is an inventor of 32 patented plasma technologies. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Engineers (NAI), Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), and American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Distinguished Visiting Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

DR. JUDITH JOHNSON - Scientific Advisor

Dr. Johnson is Professor of Pathology, Immunology & Laboratory Medicine and retired as Director of Core Laboratory at the Emerging Pathogens Institute, University of Florida.  She is an expert in microbial antibiotic resistance and pathways of disease transmission.

While laboratory tests show SurfPlasma can rapidly achieve medical levels of sterilization, our present strategy is to bring surface and air sanitizing equipment to the global market. Production prototypes are in development and the start of product sales is on our horizon.

Mr. Justin Kosky earned his Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida. He leverages his modeling experience and mechanical engineering background to help bring core plasma technologies from model designs to prototype testing for finished products. 

WILLIAM LEAR, PhD - Director of Engineering

Dr. Lear previously held a faculty position in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department at the University of Florida for over 30 years. Dr. Lear was an employee at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, and was a Faculty Fellow at the NASA, NETL, and ORNL.

TOMAS HOUBA, PhD - Research Scientist

Dr. Houba earned his PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Florida. His expertise in interdisciplinary multiscale study of plasma actuation and non-equilibrium physics strengthens our low and atmospheric pressure modeling efforts.
